Missionary
Ridiculous, preposterous
and quietly serendipitous
the missionary walks around his field
No one tells him go away
but many ask him why, and say
he's nice but ballyhoo
and go to play
I meet some guys but they're just faces
oh! the love of inmost places
now is showing just some traces
everything has turned to obligation
Some days I'm stuck wondering
on what I should do
it seems I could twiddle
my thumbs in this zoo
a-pondering why I will do
what I do
Last night someone called me
upset hooblee-hoo
that I do things this and this
that and that poo
So I tried to calm them
and feel so legit
when sometimes I wonder
why I'm doing it
So whimper and whindle
cower and cringle
bubblee-bubb
sobbee-sob
frowny-face frimple
And that's what it's like
to be an apostle
sadness and stupidness
all in a tossle
Of course, that makes
Jesus' job much more simple
He loves to show grace
through the weakliest wimple
